Oscar Grant was a young
black man who was fatally shot by a BART police officer in
Oakland on January 1st 2009. The following year, the
Soul of the City Campaign created a community mural that invited Oakland
residents to tie ribbons on the mural with prayers for the memory of Oscar
Grant, his family, and hopes for a better Oakland. Revolution Café will now house the mural and display it front and center near West
Oakland BART.
Celebrate the mural's unveiling with us.
Now that the mural is mounted, join Soul of the City and the
Field of Dreams for a celebration and unveiling of the Oscar Grant Ribbon Mural
on Saturday May 12th. Come honor the memory of Oscar Grant with
activists, supporters and volunteers who helped
create the mural.
