Night Out for Safety, Democracy, and Human Rights

National Night Out for SafetyOn August 6, 2013, we're inviting you and your community to reshape National Night Out (sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch) into a Night Out for Safety, Democracy, and Human Rights.

Instead of the usual discussion of how to "raise crime awareness," we'll voice our own ideas and opinions on public safety. While community members are often lectured on crime and drug prevention at official National Night Out events, the National Night Out for Safety, Democracy, and Human Rights will include immigration, criminal justice, and civil liberty issues in an open discussion about what it truly means to create safe communities.

How You Can Take Part:

  • Use the form below to endorse the Night Out for Safety, Democracy and Human Rights. We'll keep you up to date and get back to you with tools and tips for successful dialogue.
  • Invite people you know to events in your area.
  • Build more Night Out for Safety, Democracy, and Human Rights events.

Together we can build a movement to shift resources away from locking people up toward lifting them up instead.
